The PHP-FPM Logo

PHP-FPM (Hypertext Preprocessor FastCGI Process Manager - wow, what a mouthful!) Is a PHP FastCGI system with additional features which run all sites in a fast efficient manager, but it really stands out on larger, busier websites that see high traffic and need performance to match.

Coupled with our NGINX webserver and MariaDB Server for database storage PHP-FPM makes our WordPress hosting and Laravel hosting the fastest in the UK, if not the world! But that's not all, because of our fully customisable profiles on our shared WordPress hosting, and our personally tailored system on our Managed WordPress Hosting, our custom server stack is the fastest in the worlds for all types of HTML and PHP based websites!

We believe in speed, security and compatibility, and that's why we let you choose which version of PHP-FPM is right for you and your website, and if you're not sure, a member of our world-class support will be able to advise, and even test to see if we can get you on the latest version of PHP without causing any compatibility issues with your website.

Currently, our shared WordPress hosting platform allows you to switch between;

A Fully patched PHP 5.6 (Legacy)
A Fully patched PHP 7.0
PHP 7.1
PHP 7.2
PHP 7.3 (The latest stable, and fastest! version).

For our managed WordPress hosting we always set up with the latest version of PHP (Currently 7.3) but if earlier versions are required we can set which PHP to use from our control panel.

Check out the speed tests on our WordPress Hosting here.

Because PHP is ever-evolving, we're always keeping up-to-date on what's new, and updating versions where required. Very occasionally we may also remove versions (for example 5.6 is past End of Life) if there is an unpatched security issue that would cause issues with your website or our servers.

If we ever remove any version of PHP we'll work with you to ensure your site continues to work on the latest version of PHP before fully removing the legacy versions, so there's no need to worry.
